The Gift of the Feminine and Animal Spirit in Art 2009 Calendar

I’ve chosen to portray both animals and women in this year’s calendar. The presence of the feminine has been central in my life and my art.  This year I felt inspired to blend the gifts of the animal spirit with those of the feminine.

The presence and the importance of animals are found in the traditions of most cultures throughout history. With this year’s calendar I chose to focus on the gifts and wisdom that animals bring to us in our everyday lives.  They serve as gentle reminders of the qualities in life that each of us can possess and can reflect to others.

I have chosen to paint twelve specific animals as companions to the women who grace the pages of this year’s calendar.
